Before I started sewing, Stu sewed this wrap skirt for me so that I could wear it:
- like a Hakama on top of a kimono; and
- over warm pants in winter.
Let me note down the pattern and video tutorial used for my own future reference.
Wrap Skirt Pattern
A Hakama looks like a pleated long skirt, but we decided to go with a half circle wrap skirt.

Fabric used
The skirt was made from a wool poly fabric from Textile Offcuts.

It’s so much easier to put on than a Hakama, and there are no gap ‘holes’ on either side like a Hakama!
Not just for kimonos. A wrap skirt is so much easier to put on over the top of other clothing. On a cold day I can wrap it around warm pants and no one would know!
