I’ve been experimenting with gemstone‑style soaps, and this green gemstone bar came together so pretty (the photos don’t do it justice). The layered greens, the gold shimmer, and the reflective finish gave it a jasper‑like look that I wanted to jot down how i made it before I forget it.
Mold
This gemstone soap was made in a crystal‑shaped silicone mold that holds about 100g of soap.
You can also use a rectangular mold — just slice the corners off once it has set.
Ingredients
- 105g clear soap base
- 5g white soap base
- Green pigment (3 drops)
- Gold mica powder (a sprinkle)
- Lemongrass essential oil (8 drops)
- Isopropyl alcohol (for dissolving mica and spraying between layers)
Method
- Melt 60g clear soap base. Add 3 drops of green pigment and 8 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
- Pour into the mold.
- Melt 15g clear soap base. Mix gold mica powder dissolved in a spray of isopropyl alcohol.
- Slowly pour onto the green layer before it has set, to make swirls of gold towards the surface.
- Once set, poke the surface with a chopstick or fork to make the surface bumpy.
- Dust some gold mica powder on the surface so it’ll mix with the next layer.
- Melt 30g clear soap base and ~5g white soap base. Add some lemongrass fragrance, lightly stir to marble the green and white, and pour into the mold.
- Let the soap set and take out of the mold.

Completed

It looks gorgeous when the light reflects off it 🙂
