🏠 Onigiri with salted kelp and bonito flakes

These simple and savoury rice balls can be made with ingredients available from Asian grocers and Daiso.

Ingredients

  • 2 small servings of hot cooked rice
  • 2tbsp salted kelp flakes
  • 1tbsp (~3g) bonito flakes
  • 1tbsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 2tsp Tsuyu sauce (or soy sauce)

How to make onigiri

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Shape them into 4 rice balls.

This onigiri shaper from Daiso makes life easier 🙂 It’s made in Japan and has a tab at the back you can press on to pop the rice balls out.
