Tsukineko Brilliance Ink Pad: Stamp test on black paper

During my hunt for ink pads that stamp well on dark coloured card stock, I read on Tsukineko’s Japanese website that their Brilliance metallic ink pads somewhat work on black paper.

So I tested Tsukineko’s Brilliance Metallic “Planetarium” Dew Drop ink pad set on black paper.  Here are the results.

Can you stamp on black paper?

The short answer is, yes – Tsukineko Brilliance ink pads do somewhat work on black paper.

Brilliance Planetarium Dew Drop set consists of Platinum Planet, Starlight Silver, Galaxy Gold, and Cosmic Copper. The Cosmic Copper tends to work the best, followed by Starlight Silver, then Platinum. Galaxy Gold doesn’t work as well.

In reality, the contrast is slightly less than what this photo shows.  But they do indeed somewhat work.

On white paper, the colours turn out like below.

Cosmic Copper looks great on both black and white paper. My handmade earrings stand out better without the metallic stamping on the black backing cards though, so I’m keen to try out some matte colours.

Tsukineko’s chalk stamps are said stamp well on black too, so I’ll be trying them out next.
