Tsukineko’s Japanese product catalogue says that their Brilliance and Versa Magic ink pads work on black paper to a degree. In my last post, I tested their Brilliance metallic ink pads. This time, I tested Tsukineko’s Versa Magic “Sea Shore” Dew Drop ink pad set on black paper. Here are the results.

Versa Magic Sea Shore Dew Drop set consists of Aspen Mist, Aquatic Splash, Oasis Green, and Ocean Depth. Surprisingly, the Ocean Green and Aquatic Splash look very similar when stamped on black.
My camera tends to “auto-correct” the contrast, so in reality, the contrast is a little less than in this photo. But I’m pretty happy with the results of all 4 colours; Versa Magic chalk ink pads seem to work a little better than the Brilliance metallic ink pads I tested earlier. See comparison below.

Here’s what the colours look like on white; the dew drops are pointing at what they stamped. (I could have inked the rubber stamp better 😅)

I didn’t expect this because it looked like it’ll be too dark, but my favourite is Ocean Depth. It looks pretty sexy on black – not too showy but still readable. I decided to use it to stamp the front of my handmade earring backing cards so my creations still stand out 🙂

So, what’s the best ink pad to stamp on black paper?
According to Tsukineko’s Japanese product catalogue, their Encore ink pad range work best on black paper.
Since their Versa Magic and Brilliance metallic inks, which they say works to a degree, work pretty well already, I look forward to trying out their Encore range.
Have you tried them already? What ink pads do you recommend?
